Original Waste Side Jig™ 1.45mm Kerf for Easy Track Saw Cuts (Pair) inc. Makita 18v & 40v Saws (Teal)

£7.99

This simple jig assists in setting a track-saw guide when you're making a cut where you the measured side is on the waste-side of the guide rail. The jig is designed to adjust for Makita Efficut saw-blades with a 1.45mm Kerf. This includes the Makita SPJ600 36v Battery Saw, although please check your blade for the brand “Efficut” printed on it.

The two jigs are included in each set.

Their dimensions are 85.6mm x 53.9mm (credit card size) and with a general thickness of 0.8mm. The central ridge is 3.8mm high and 1.6mm wide. Red.

Typically when making cuts with a track-saw, you align the splinter-guard to the line marked on the board you wish to cut. The material under the rail is the measured part and the material to the right-hand-side is the waste.

However there are times, especially when cutting narrow strips from a board, that you want to mark your line and the material to the right of the rail is the measured part. In this situation you must account for the width of the blade kerf.

To use the jig place the solid side of the jig under the guide-rail with the centre ridge against the splinter guard. Use the second jig at the other end of the rail.

Align the marked line on the workpiece with the edge of the ridge inside the open square. When both jigs are aligned with the mark, clamp the rail (if required) and remove the jigs, You can go ahead and make your cut and your saw kerf should follow the line you marked exactly.

It is recommended that you practice on a scrap piece of board to ensure you've mastered the technique before tacking your project piece. The jig is made from a biodegradable plastic known as PLA and will not cause damage to blades if you forget to remove the jig before making your cut.
