Gate Replacement Project (Part I): Gate Hardware

When I bought my new house from the developer the back gate was as bent as a banana. The fencing company that installed it even bent the gate jam to conform to the curve of the gate. All that said, it simply wasn’t a priority to replace the gate until now. Because now the fence it’s installed has been damaged by high winds recently.

I’ve drawn-up a design for the gate and I think you’ll enjoy that project when I’m ready to share it with you, but before I get started I though I would experiment on the old knackered gate and work-out what gate hardware I want and, importantly, find a way of making the gate more secure.

So my latest video documents that experiment with surprising results. And now I can confidently press ahead with making the new gate, gate opening and replacement fence.

I hope you enjoy.
