Big Tools in a Small Workshop

New Video of the DeWalt DWS778 -GB Sliding Mitre Saw

This week I posted a new video that talks about the problem of moving tools designed for site work into the workshop. The sliding mitre saw has been a bone of contention for a while due simply to the amount of space you need behind the tool when mounted on a stand or base unit.

The DeWalt 778 offers a potential solution and I look at the tool, the cut quality and it’s viability within a smaller workshop. Remember while I’m lucky to have full use of a single car UK garage, it’s still only 18 square metres and small when compared to even the basement shops of guys in the US.

This was my first video filmed with my new Panasonic LUMIX G7 Mirrorless Camera and I’m really pleased with the results. The only annoying feature is that when I fit the Rode VideoMic Micro microphone to the camera it picks up interference from my mobile phone if that’s nearby.

The close-up shots were taken with the GoPro Hero (2018) and I’m really happy with the quality of those shots. That camera is going to allow me to get much closer to the workpiece and I hope show a good level of detail in future videos.
